Dan and I had a very special brother/sister connection. Like so many who have shared their memories , Dan was kind, caring, always ready to lend a hand. His greeting to me was usually "hey, Kid, you doing ok." He had a keen sense of "reading" me knowing when I needed reassuring words and HUGS. I loved to make him "anything" chocolate, but his favorite was chocolate cream pie. I am missing you Dan, but I know you are watching from above, no longer suffering ....... forever in my heart !!!!! On behalf of the CSX Police Department (Albany Division), we honor the memory of retired Supervisory Special Agent Dan Kelly. Dan was a dedicated mentor and a true friend to all of us. His guidance and support were invaluable, and his belief in our potential left an indelible impact, pushing us to achieve more than we thought possible.
Dan was known for his integrity, kindness, and his ability to make everyone feel valued. His presence brought comfort, and his absence is deeply felt.
We will always remember Dan for his commitment, generosity, and the positive impact he had on our lives.
Rest in peace, Dan. You will be missed.

It was an honor for me to give the family eulogy at Dan's funeral. I will miss sitting with him at all those games, his wisdom, his interest in others, those eye-rolls, his humility, and, especially, his humor. Dan was a gentleman with whom I have been lucky to have spent much quality time.
My sincere condolences to Pam, Lisa, Jessica, Peter, Kathy, Patty, and all the rest of the family.

Dan was my big brother, the second oldest boy, five years older than I. He was quiet, and Mom said as a child he did not like loud noises (e.g. parades or fireworks), and especially not clowns. He did not like a lot of attention directed at him, either. There are more than a few pictures of him looking unhappy to be photographed.
I bet no one knows that Dan started his law enforcement career at a very early age; he was a Hall Monitor in high school, with a white shoulder harness and a badge, on duty to keep the peace in the hallways of Ichabod Crane. His height was a definite advantage in keeping an eye on the throngs of unruly students in between classes.
I will miss him as the ever-present brother at family gatherings, there to listen, work, laugh, eat any and all chocolate desserts, win at backyard corn hole, play with the kids and get them all giggly, and dispense his wisdom about human nature from his years of observation.

My tears flow as I think of you Dan and how much you will be missed. Then the many memories I have of you bring a smile back to my face. I cherish those memories of dinners with you and Pam on ‘veggie night,” of all your hard work beautifying my garden, and of the many drives back and forth to Florida. You were always kind, always gentle, and always helpful to me and so many others. Rest now Dan… Much Love, Deb

Dan, I will forever be grateful for our friendship. It was genuine and true. We were blessed with 34 years of laughter and love. Our lives became connected because we became a part of each others history and memories. I find myself smiling because how lucky were we? We were friends because we wanted to be. Now who’s going to open my shed in the spring? I miss you, big guy. I’ll miss you forever.

Uncle Dan lit up a room whenever he walked in. I’ll never forget his big smile, his firm and cozy side hugs, and his ability turn any conversation into a giggle fest with his one-liners. He’s been in my memories since childhood, and will be in my thoughts forever.

Q: How did you meet Daniel?
A: Dan and I both had brothers that were New York State Troopers. Both of our brothers were taken away from us because of Line of Duty tragedies. The New York State Police EAP and NYST Foundation formed a group for the survivors of Line of Duty deaths in 1994. It was through this program that I got to meet Dan in 2000. We were part of the brothers survivor group that met annually. This was a very special group and a bond formed with the Kelly family outside of the annual event. I was saddened to hear of the passing of Dan and will forever respect Dan for the person he was. All my love for Pam and the Kelly family. Terry Parisian

Dearest Dan,
As a very good friend of your beautiful wife, after connecting quickly years ago with Empire State Development, I expected to meet a kind, loving husband just because she deserved nothing less. Stories of remodeled rooms and retirement, I watched your travel exploits that took us all to places that were bucket list adventures, and we knew each was with your favorite person on earth. We were fortunate that Lake Placid was on that list annually, maybe twice, as we got to see you two and the rest of the family, taking it all in by the lake. I will miss your "tall drink of water" self, that smile, Pam's grin as she looked lovingly into your eyes. As always, she is instructed to return as often as she likes, ground floor lakeside or upstairs with a Royal balcony, I'll make sure the place is pristine with lines cut in the grass...I was proud you wanted to come stay at my house. We never had the chance to leave here to see you two outside of our work, and the same goes for the service in your memory tomorrow. I know you will watch over Pam, add us to that list as we will miss you every day. Heaven is a better place with you in it, alas you left us too soon and if any of your family needs anything at the motel, I'm here for them. Love to you, Pam and the family. Strength to all. Stuart, Petra and Weber Jane

Q: How did you meet Daniel?
A: I met Dan over 30 years ago when he and one of my BFF's Pam started dating. Pam was excited when she met this tall and handsome man in the concourse of the Empire State Plaza. She brought Dan to one of our infamous Christmas parties on Eagle St. across from the Governor's home. He was quiet and most likely a little overwhelmed. Well, he persevered, and the rest is history. He was there for me when times were tough. I will miss his shoulder to cry on and his reassuring hugs. His soul was pure, and he was the kindest most empathetic man I know. I will miss you.

Danny was a cool older cousin who would tolerate us Flais cousins on our yearly summer visits to the Becker side of the family.
He made it look easy. He patiently played endless board games of Concentration, humored us in all conversation, and gave the best shoulder rides. We certainly rode high upon the shoulders of Danny.
Now it's Dan's turn to fly high.

Q: What will you never forget about Daniel?
A: When I bought my first home it was right next door to Dan and Pam!! I could not have asked for better neighbors!! As a new homeowner and single lady they helped me with so much!! Dan would shovel and snowblow my driveway all the time!! He knew I worked long crazy hours as a nurse and knew how would feel being at work when it’s snowing. I always came home to a clear driveway! He would mow my lawn for me!! And when I knew nothing about landscaping, Dan and Pam jumped right over and helped me lay mulch and weed.
Dan also had a special soft wood my puppy Joey!! Every time we walked outside her first order of business was to see if Dan was outside. He usually was so we had to stop and say hi and get hugs!!
There’s nobody like Dan! And nobody like Pam! My heart goes out to you Pam and the whole family! Dan will be so missed!! Thanks for being the best neighbor I have and will ever have!!!!♥️

What a great guy, great memories of visits to Lake Champlain by Dan and Pam. Dinners in Lake Placid fun times in the capital District. Dan will be missed by all, so Easy-going, relaxed, andso much fun to be around. My kids have fond memories of visits by Dan and Pam to the north country. I believe Dan was a big influence on her son Eric as to why he got into the law-enforcement field. He literally And figuratively looked up to Dan And had tremendous respect for him. So happy that they had so many opportunities to travel in the last few years. Well, his life was cut way too short. You certainly was able to enjoy a good piece of his retirement. Q: How did you meet Daniel?
A: I lived next door to Dan and Pam for 14 years. Dan always greeted me with a smile and how are you doing today. Dan would remove the snow in my driveway if we had a large amount I could not shovel. When I was outside working in the garden, Dan would come over and sit on my deck and we would talk. Dan was a special person. Hugs for Pam.
