Ballston Lake, NY. Gary J. Pope (Pop),82, passed away on Thursday July 11,2024 with family by his side.
Born in Schenectady to the late William & Anita (Premo) Pope on April 26, 1942. He is predeceased in death by his sister Linda Towers and sister-in-law Audrey Evans.
Gary went to high school @ Vincentian Institute & graduated from St. Joseph's High School Albany. He also went to SUNY Cobleskill & graduated from Farley Dickenson with a bachelor's degree.
Gary served 6 years with the 109th Airlift Wing in Scotia.
He worked for several years at Dun & Bradstreet. He finished his career with the Long Energy Company having worked there for 27 years right up to the time he became ill. He loved his Long Energy Family.
Gary was an avid golfer having golfed for 71 years. He finally got his hole in one a couple years ago.
He loved sports playing basketball & baseball in high school, softball till he was in his 50's. He also bowled for many years getting his 300 game. Gary was active in the United Cerebral Palsy Association of Fulton & Montgomery Counties.
Gary is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years Diane Evans Pope, his son Michael, his stepsons Brian Jones, Jason (Maria)Jones his grandchildren Carey and Wynn Pope & Whitney Jones whom he adored.
Also survived by his brother Dennis (Katie)Pope, his sisters in law Mary (Harold) Bearder, Dawn Evans, his brothers in law Richard Evans, David (Paula)Evans, Joseph (Cheryl) Evans, Tim Evans & Dan(Sue) Evans. He is also survived by many nieces & nephews.
The family would like to thank Drs. Joseph Fuscella, Wm. Gusten, Su, Alex Frank & their staff.
There will be no services at Gary's request.
