Obituary of Elizabeth Hobart
Please share a memory of Elizabeth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Troy, NY. Elizabeth M. "Betsy" Hobart age 77 passed away peacefully on Thursday June 13, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Did I have a wonderful life? Well-read along and let's see.
I, Elizabeth (Betsy) D'Arcy Hobart was born to the proud parents James Kingston D'Arcy and Maria (Gee) Lyke D'Arcy on August 4th, 1946, on a cold winter night. (Just kidding I am sure it was warm and beautiful), and so my life began.
My parents set me free in the world growing up in Troy with 3 brothers.
Jim D'Arcy (Gail), Hank D'Arcy (Fran), and Wayne D'Arcy (Kathi). There was never a dull moment in our house, as it was filled with love and laughter. My brothers made life fun.
CCHS was the high school I attended where I met friends, and we formed a bond that would last a lifetime. I loved attending the monthly luncheons with them especially my lifelong friend Suzanne Vandeputte, my sidekick since I was 14 years old. Oh, if my kids only knew what trouble we got in hee-hee.
Then I met Greg Wilson and together we brought 3 wonderful children in this world. Rory (Stacey), Jared (Diane) Maria (Dan). My days were filled with sports, injuries, fighting, love, chaos, parties, school functions, plays, you name I went to it. Ps the refs and umpires cringed when I went to a game, I have no idea why hee-hee.
I have always held a special place in my heart for people in my life, Rory who has thought he is a comedian since his was eight years old bringing laughter, Jared who once threw a party at our house with a live band in the living room bringing adventure, Maria who is my favorite (that's what she says) we would go traveling to Vermont, Yankee candle and she was my constant companion. Maria brought me comfort. My niece Denna D'Arcy would always stay with me when she was in town. We shared a lot of special moments together and she meant so much to me. I loved when she was with me on Christmas Eve, she brought me peace. Speaking of Christmas did you know, I loved diamond painting, crocheting and making candy to give everyone gifts. Always loved that time of the year.
The jobs I have had over the years brought me joy, Troy Savings Bank, Troy Record, Friendly's and DeCrescente. There I found my second family who I cherished with all my heart. Thank you to everyone in the DeCrescente family for all the wonderful times. Thanks to Cheryl and Billy Gorman for always treating me as family. You guys are awesome.
Brian Murphy and Billy Ray were in my life, bringing happiness and craziness. Brian from Florida and Billy Ray from the road. Brian always brought a smile to my face.
Gotta give a shout out to all my nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, thank you for being in my life
Then Peter Hobart and his son Chris (Tracey) came into our lives. Lucky enough Anne Grittman (peters sister) and my brother-in-law David Hobart and wife Becky were part of the package. See I was blessed to have so many wonderful people in my life.
Peter and I had 31 years of an amazing marriage. Time and time again we stood by each other, through the good times and tough times. He was my rock, my everything.
You will have to indulge me a little more now, I need to mention all my grandchildren and great grandchildren
Jason, Alex, Taylor, Victoria, Trinity, Olivia, Sophia, Matthew, Nicholas, Megan, Sophie, Sabrina, Charlotte, Taylor and Ryan. The grandchildren were the apple of my eye.
Ps you remember those Christmas gifts I talked about before, I hope they keep all the gifts I made them, and when they look at them remember me and know I loved them all.
Carson, Hudson, Juliana, Carter, Nicholas, Ophelia and Julia were just the cherry on top to my life. (Friendly's reference ha-ha)
Well, there you have it, my life in a quick summary. I will end with this- my life was everything I wanted. I loved all the people in my life, and I am proud of how I raised my Children to be the loving compassionate caring adults they are today.
So, a wonderful life? Yes for 77 years I had a WONDERFUL LIFE.
Remember "no person is a failure who has friends".
See you on the flip side Love Betsy BE KIND
