Obituary of Kenneth J Reid
Please share a memory of Kenneth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Halfmoon NY. Kenneth J. Reid age 75, passed away on Friday, April 5, 2024, at New York Presbyterian Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Astoria Queens, he was the son of the late James and Virginia (Riordan) Reid Sr.
Ken is survived by the love of his life and life companion of over 30 years Carol Ammirato, his son, Michael K. Reid. Three daughters, Ariel and Ben Ruiz, Samara Weinstein and Jennifer and Danny Crespo. He is also survived by two brothers, James and Nancy Reid and Richard and Rita Reid. Eight grandchildren, Alexander, Madelyn, Brandon, Kamryn, Elise, Tamia, Kailey, and Brandon. He is also survived by one great granddaughter Estella.
Ken spent the last decade prior to the pandemic traveling the world with Carol. Together they visited over 100 countries. In their most recent trip, a family vacation to Cape Cod, they got to spend a week with some of his beloved grandchildren and the great grandchild which was always one of his favorite past times. Ken was a wonderful role model to his family, and he was a highly intelligent, hardworking, disciplined, and often opinionated individual, notorious for his many lectures on various topics to his beloved family members over the years. He had a great love of witty banter and a wonderful sense of humor. A lover of trivia, especially Jeopardy, Ken would often watch a 30-minute episode over the course of two hours because he insisted on pausing it between every question that he had to think about. His competitive nature in games, especially some of his favorites like Monopoly or chess, was unmatched and he made everyone in his family crazy the moment they agreed to play with him. In his early years, Ken was a bit of a thrill seeker often retelling many stories about learning to fly a Cessna or biking from NYC to Boston or Washington DC as a younger child. Most of all Ken will be remembered as a devoted partner, beloved father, and friend to many of whom he would give the shirt off his back if they were in need. He will be missed by many, and we were so lucky to have him for the time we did.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2024 from 4-7pm at the Catricala Funeral Home, 1597 Route 9, Clifton Park, NY. A funeral service will be held at the Funeral Home on Friday, April 12, 2024 at 10 am. Burial to follow at Memory's Gardens Cemetery.
