I was so sorry to learn of George’s passing. What a great leader he was. George was accomplished in life and performed his duties with competence and humor. I greatly enjoyed working with him and have thought of him often over the years. George will be missed. May he rest in peace.

My condolences to the Sinnott family. I was a grad student in '94-'96, and was lucky to be part of an incoming PMI class into state service that he fought to bring back after funding cuts. He was a role model and inspiration to all of us in that program, and part of what shaped us into good public servants. After a nearly 28 years of work in state government, I still count him as one of the biggest influences on my career.

Commissioner Sinnott was just about the Best person I have met. I will never forget that he asked me legal questions in order to get the correct answer and not to challenge me as to what the law should be. He always showed his appreciation to people and you were very lucky to have known him. I'll never forget that within a month or so of knowing me, he knew I was looking for a video on Gentleman Jim Corbett, the 2nd World Heavyweight Boxing World Champion and on a Monday, lying on my desk was a video and note from the Commissioner, "Jim, Enjoy! George". And I will never forget the occasions when he actually kissed a pig in front of the entire Department in appreciation of something we had done. He was the best and eating lunch with the crew he put together almost everyday was a joy; I got a special kick out him getting phone calls from the Governor while we were riding in the car. Commissioner, I salute you! As Paula said "He complemented his work associates and was not full of himself like many commissioners. He was interested in the contributions that others were making. I was totally impressed with Commissioner Sinnott". Commissioner, I guess God just needed the best Commissioner on Earth!!! I forgot that my first job was as a toll collector for the New York State Bridge Authority in Newburgh, NY. and my last job was an Associate Attorney with the New York State Department of Civil Service. Ironically, Commissioner Sinnott's first job was with State Civil Service and his last with the Bridge Authority.

In the great tapestry of life, we were blessed to have known and admired a thread as vibrant and significant as Commissioner George Sinnott. His kindness stirred warmth in our hearts; his wit, endless laughter. He sought truth with an analytical mind while unearthing wisdom within us all. Humble yet courageous, he respected everyone's contribution, showing gratitude even to the commencement of kissing a pig for departmental achievements. Heaven needed such an extraordinary commissioner indeed—an echo of his legacy will forever resonate in our memories.
