Obituary of Donald C. Kimmey

Donald C. “Donnie” Kimmey, of Clifton Park passed away on February 5, 2023 surrounded by family. Born on January 27, 1936, to Clarence and Veronica Kimmey in Albany, Donnie was a proud husband and father of six children, 12 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren, with the tenth expected this summer.

A farmer at birth and graduate of La Salle Institute, he became a carpenter, building over 600 hundred homes and rising to Vice President of Hollander Homes before starting Kimmey Construction in 2005 with his sons, Mike and Chris. When he wasn’t with his family, he loved spending time in the woods hunting with his best friend and “brother” the late Walt Schelling.

Donnie is pre-deceased by his sister Marie Lossoe and her husband Don and is survived by his wife of 65 years, Pattie, and their children (and their spouses), Christopher Kimmey (Linda) of Clifton Park; Terri O’Donnell (Brian) of Connecticut; Mike Kimmey (Barbara) of Massachusetts; Kelly Madden (Michael) of Kentucky; Gary Kimmey (Lisa) of Virginia; and Meghan Taney (Dan) of Clifton Park.

Donnie is also survived by his grandchildren and great grandchildren: Nicole Mathison, her husband Brock, and children Nathan, Gracie, Laura, and Emma; Jason Madden; Elizabeth Cook, her husband Andrew, and children Adelaide, Boyd, and Cooper; Jessica Ramalho, her husband Dan, and son Noah; Matthew Kimmey, his wife Hannah, and son George; Sam Kimmey; Brian Kimmey; Brendan, Emmett, and Molly O’Donnell; Abigail Kimmey; and Jack Taney; and his niece Audrey and her husband Mark Lacivita with their daughter Allison.

The family would like to thank Ellis Hospital’s nurses and doctors for their great care and compassion.

A memorial Mass will be held at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 569 Clifton Park Center Rd., Clifton Park on Friday, February 10, at 12pm.
