During some of my teens and twenties I spent a lot of time at the DiGregorio house in Franklin Square and I have some very fond memories of those days. Phyllis, I, and other friends would end up at the house after school to watch soap operas. And eat! Connie welcomed this, and us, as if we were part of her immediate family. We were an extension though, a branch of it. Connie was always working, cooking or cleaning when we were there and I know she got joy from having us all there. On the occasions when she would join us around the basement kitchen table, which is where we hung out most of the time, I always enjoyed her company. Sort of like a second mom, she had smart advice, life experiences and some funny stories to tell. She was a true matriarch. She was warm and caring yet firm and strong. Strong both physically and emotionally. I remember many times pulling up to their house on Concord St. to find Connie and ‘Mr. Pete’, as I called Mr. D, out in the yard gardening, setting up their patio, or cleaning. I had some good times with Connie and the DiGregorio family. It’s been a while since I’ve seen you all, but I hold you all very dear to my heart. I’m thankful that I am still dear friends with Phyllis. It’s hard to believe that 40 years ago,I, along with other friends, attended a 25th wedding anniversary party the kids held for Mr.and Mrs. D at a restaurant in Mineola. I was a kid and now I’m married 28 years myself, and Connie and Pete were married 65years! Amazing love and friendship they had and I admired it! Like I said,it’s been several years since I’ve seen her, but I am sad that Connie is gone, and I will miss her. Rest peacefully dear lady. To the family,I hope you find comfort in talking, crying, sharing stories, etc. with each other during this difficult time. My sincere condolences to you all. I love your family more than you could know,

Aunt Connie, There are no words that can describe the loss we feel in our hearts! You will truly be missed. As I am writing this message I am remembering the fond memories that I have of you, starting with when I first met you and you so lovingly accepting me as a part of your family or the day I met Ben in your back-yard and you kept whispering to me that he was going to be my husband. Thinking back on all these memories we shared through the years, both in New York and Florida, truly defines a sentiment of family. You will always be in our hearts forever!
