My beautiful sister has passed away.No more daily phone calls to update each other regarding the latest events in our lives. Recalling passed memories with much nostalgia & planning future events with eager anticipation. She was my Rock. A caring older sister giving me encouragement when l was depressed & praise in my successes. There are no words to fully express the deep loss & void left in my life with her death. Since her eyes have closed , my eyes will always be filled with tears.

Continuation of previous post.....One of the traits I will keep alive, as a tribute to her, is her strength of conviction. Even if others don't understand or believe in something you do - you must remember to keep to your convictions, and never waiver.
As serious as she was, she still had a great sense of humor, an infectious laugh and said many funny things - for example - she was overjoyed one year when she looked at a calendar and saw that Easter "landed" on a Sunday!
We have all done something like that... but somehow when Aunt Viv did it - she showed an ever present but hidden youthfulness under her strong personality - and it was refreshingly joyful!
I could go on - but for now I will say- Cheers to Aunt Viv on a life well lived! See you in Heaven, where everything is "Jet White" - Love and Kisses - Your niece- Janine Halstead

Thank you for writing such a very touching message about Vivian Van Arthos, my Aunt; who was very much like a mother to all of us. Fiercely protective of those she loved. Her warm embrace was ever present and extended beyond the boundaries of her immediate family. We all felt it, and it was very comforting. There is an emptiness I feel in my heart and it aches.
I will always remember Aunt Viv as a strong soul; I felt safe in her presence. She was a direct, and straightforward person; one of her many traits that I admired.
I remember when I was little, I had a school report to do on vitamins. There were very few books available...and no computers. My mom told me to call Aunt Viv - who proceeded to tell me about every Vitamin in the alphabet. With Aunt Viv - there was no need for the internet! I received many A's on reports and homework assignments because of her.
I also learned that you couldn't write "Aunt Viv" as your "bibliography". To be continued...Janine Halstead

Aunt Vivian will be "deeply" missed. She was a wonderful person as well as a wonderful Aunt. We are really sorry we didn't get to see her before her passing. All our love goes out to Uncle Ted, Melissa, Danielle, Christine, my mother-in law Lori and all the other cousins and family friends.
Love you,
Rory & Rick

Melissa,
My thoughts are with you. It is not easy being the only child when one loses a parent (as I know). I am glad that you have your Dad and daughters to share the loss and share the memories. Your Mom is with you always.
