David M. Deering, age 60 of Rexford passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at
Ellis Hospital surrounded by his family.  Born on June 4, 1962, he was the son of the
late Dana and Phyllis Deering.

He attended Shenendehowa Central Schools and graduated in 1980.  He went to Maritime College for two years then transferred to SUNY Albany, where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in 1984.
Since his dad was in the army, the family moved around until 1969, when they settled in the Capital Region.
Growing up Dave was active in Boy Scouts and earned his Eagle Scout Award from Troop 45.
Dave married Ginger (Nelson) Deering, his “Sweetie”, on October 12,1996 and welcomed a son, Jarrod, several years later.
Dave and Ginger were married over 25 wonderful years and were able to express a recommitment to each other last fall by renewing their vows.

Dave worked as an Information Technology Professional for Capital Communications Federal Credit Union for 35 years, along with several part time jobs including delivering for Mama’s Pizza and a personal assistant to Rich.
Dave was a huge sports fan and loved watching the Boston teams and the Shenendehowa teams.
He was involved with and played on softball teams and was also in a bowling league.
His greatest love was spending time with family and friends playing games, travelling, watching sports together or just hanging out.

He had a huge heart for the Lord and was active in Shenendehowa United Methodist Church, Grace Chapel, New Hope Community Church and most recently Starpoint Church.
Several ministries he was involved in included bell choir, youth group leader, Cousins Group, Sunday School teacher, Stephen Ministry, singing on the worship team, being a camp counselor at Skye Farm and several missions trips both here in the states and abroad.
Dave enjoyed participating in the music program at Shenendehowa Central School. He took great pride in playing the trombone and sharing his love for the instrument with his son & best friend, Jarrod.  Together they marched in the Capital District Marching Band and played duets in church.
Dave was not only an amazing husband to Ginger, but an incredible father to Jarrod.
