Obituary of Diane L. Samson

Diane Lee Samson, age 73, of Halfmoon, entered her eternal home in Heaven on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, after a long heroic battle with cancer. Born on May 28, 1948, Diane was the daughter of the late Henry and Lois Biette. Diane was preceded in death by her son, Dale Samson.

Diane started her career working at the Albany Medical Center as a cancer registrar coder. She then worked as an Administrative Assistant at the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory in Niskayuna for  30 years. Upon her retirement, she worked in her daughter’s family business, Park Avenue Confectionary, LLC.

She loved life to the fullest and you would often see her reading through recipes and planning the food for holiday events. She enjoyed spending time with her grandsons taking them to historic sites and on little adventures. She always lived a live centered on God first and she loved her family unconditionally.    

She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca (Kevin) Tollisen, of Halfmoon; her grandsons, Matthew Tollisen and Timothy Tollisen; her sister, Lois Biette; her brother Gary (Barbara) Biette; her nephews Jason (Jessica) Biette and Scott (Nicole) Biette; and several great nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held at the Catricala Funeral Home Inc., 1597 Route 9, Clifton Park on Friday, April 8th from 10am to 12 noon, with a service at 12 noon with the Rev Clyde McCaskill presiding. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Troy following the service.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her memory to Hoosic Valley Community Church, 2024 NY 40, Schaghticoke, NY 12154 or to the Albany Medical Center Children’s Hospital, 43 New Scotland Avenue, Albany, NY 12208.
