Obituary of Martha "Marty" Baltrus

Martha "Marty" Fazio Baltrus, age 81 passed away peacefully on Thursday October 7, 2021. Born in the Bronx, NY on June 5, 1940, to Italian American parents, Vincent Fazio and Antoinette Palmadessa.  Marty grew up and spent her early adulthood in the Bronx. She was a 1958 graduate of Walton High School and later moved to Upstate NY and spent most of her adult life as a resident of Clifton Park. She was a loving, caring, and generous person who spent most of her life taking care of others, both within and outside her family.  In addition to being a mom and amazing homemaker, she worked outside the home in various jobs, including elder care, childcare in her in-home daycare. She also owned a print shop for several years.  Marty’s priority in life was her children, who she loved and adored. She introduced herself and was known to all as “Aunt Marty” and later “Grandma Marty”. During her children’s teen years, she was known to welcome their friends into her home, imploring them to eat her delicious Italian cooking, whether they were hungry or not!  Her kitchen table often became the gathering place where she doled out motherly advice and folk-wisdom in her ever-present Bronx accent.  Her outrageous sense of humor caused all who gathered to break out into fits of laughter.  She leaves a legacy of love and warmth in the hearts of her three children, Donna Capria Duval and dear friend Mike Reynolds, Peter Baltrus and his partner Leslie Suson, Joseph Baltrus and his wife Colleen Baltrus; nine grandchildren: Alexandria Causey and her husband Travis Causey, Phoenix Baltrus, Rob Duval, Gillian Baltrus, Cyrus Baltrus, Caden Baltrus, Leaf Baltrus, Brody Baltrus, and Sophia Baltrus, family dog Sophia Mae Duval; and three great-grandchildren: Aiden Causey (d, 2018), Mable Causey, and Harvey Causey, her sister, Antoinette Basil, and many other family members and friends. She was the best mom and will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
