Obituary of Evelyn M. Guerriero

Please share a memory of Evelyn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

On July 4, 2018, our “Golden Girl” Evelyn, passed away peacefully while in rehab at Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center following hip replacement surgery. Evelyn was born in Brooklyn on May 27, 1929.  Evelyn was predeceased by her loving husband Fred.

After marrying Fred, the love of her life, they moved to Poughkeepsie to raise their two children. Evelyn was the consummate homemaker and hostess to all gatherings of family and friends. Her knitting talents were well known as everyone had a baby outfit, afghan, or Norwegian sweater made by Evelyn. The best was yet to come as Evelyn organized their moves to the Jersey Shore and eventually Orlando where they spent many wonderful years golfing and travelling.  Just putting Evelyn in the sun made her happy!!  More than anything, Evelyn loved her children and grandchildren and took great pleasure in sharing all the joys of Disney World with them! After her dementia diagnosis, Evelyn came to live at Life Guidance in Atria Guilderland where she was loved and well taken care of for four years. Visits there from her great grandchildren were highlights!

She is survived by her children Deborah (Donald) Joss and Thomas (Ronda Bean) Guerriero, sister Judy Evensen, brother Richard Larsen and brother in law Edward (Cookie) Guerriero. Evelyn is also survived by her grandchildren Allison (Vincent) Janis, Jeffrey (Kelley) Joss, Caroline (Jeffrey) DeSocio, and Michael Guerriero, 9 great-grandchildren: Logan, Luisa, Griffin, Nicholas, Joseph, Brody, Annabelle, Emily and Noah, and many loving nieces and nephews.

There will be no calling hours. Services will be private at the Saratoga National Cemetery.

Donations may be made in Evelyn’s memory to Chase the Cure, 13 Rosemary Court, Clifton Park, NY 12065 or online at www.chasethecure.net.
