Obituary of Margaret N. Schuhle
Margaret Nedaline Harris Schuhle, age 95, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at her residence at Eddy Village Green in Cohoes
She was born on May 21,1922 in Newburgh, Margaret graduated with a BA in Elementary Education from SUNY New Paltz and earned her Master’s Degree from Columbia University.
Margaret taught elementary school in Germantown and on Long Island before marrying Harold Schuhle in 1950 and relocating to Lanesborough, MA. She taught at Lanesborough Elementary School for 23 years and in retirement volunteered at the Lanesborough Public Library.
Margaret loved nature and travel. She toured many countries including Europe, Russia, Australia, Canada and Fiji. She visited many state and National Parks. Margaret had a special love for Cape Cod, particularly North Truro. She knitted for everyone and loved reading, painting, and baking. Margaret was predeceased by Harold Schuhle, her husband of 54 years, her brothers Charles, Harold and Mellor, her great grandson Casen and her firstborn Luann Schuhle Banta.
She is survived by her sister in law Lena (Mellor) Harris of Newburgh; children Tom(Jean) of Clifton Park, Jean(Hank) of Colorado, Karen(Don) of Williamson, NY. 10 Grandchildren; Travis(Amy), Natalie, Spencer(Natalie), Ashley(Robbie), David, Matthew (Jessica), Mark, Kelsey, Claire, and Sam; 3 great grandchildren; Lee, Madelyn and May. Margaret is also survived by her son in law Robert Banta.
The family wants to acknowledge the excellent care and love Margaret received at House 5 of Eddy Village Green. These last weeks she also received loving care from members of Hospice. Mrs. Schuhle moved to Eddy Village Green after a few falls in her home in Lanesborough, MA and found a new group of friends and confidantes! She was the Resident Council Representative for House 5 and she tended to her garden of flowers and vegetables.
A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, May 15th from 12 to 2 pm at the Catricala Funeral Home, 1597 Route 9, Clifton Park.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the Lanesborough Public Library or to House 5 at Eddy Village Green
