Sue and Frank and the entire Avellino family,
Our deepest sympathies. Through the years I have had the pleasure of meeting and knowing your family members and enjoyed their company. I am so sad for you and your mom and siblings and entire family. I can't imagine what a loss this has been to all of you. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you. When something like this happens there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason and it makes us question. I do know that it is a healing process and takes a long time. But remembering all the good and fun times makes us laugh and cry and somehow helps us to get through. Again I am so very sorry for all of you.

I'd like to share a memory of John playing soccer in the 90's on a very hot and humid summer night. We started with a full squad, but lost 2 people due to injury and dehydration. The team we were playing took a 4-0 lead just before half. They were laughing how easy it was for them to score. We started the second half hoping for the game to end as soon as possible. John was playing midfield, which is the most demanding position with regard to conditioning. He was the kind of player those skills weren’t as polished as others, but he made up for that in hustle and desire. Suddenly John started winning all the 50/50 balls and was all over the field. He got the team pumped up. Long story short we won the game 5-4 by playing the entire second half with 2 players down. John was a key factor in creating our success that night. You could always count on John to give his best effort. I remember thinking if I had to pick a team of only 9 players he’d be one of my top choices.
