Obituary of John A. Tierney
John A. Tierney, age 83 of Ballston Lake passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Saratoga Hospital. Born in Brooklyn, he was the son of the late Francis and Anna Tierney.
A veteran of the US Army, John worked for Con Edison in NYC for over 30 years, retiring in 1989 as a senior draftsman. In 1988, John was ordained as a Catholic deacon and served his parish in Brooklyn. Upon moving to the Capital Region, he served as a deacon in Corpus Christi Church in Round Lake, and participated in the REC program and the clown ministry through the church. He was an avid fan of the NY Mets and loved to golf.
He is survived by his wife Irene M. Tierney, daughter Claudia Ann (Bruno) Marriello, sons John (Nancymary) Tierney, Michael (Lisa) Tierney, Todd (Jean) Tierney, and Christopher Tierney, his sisters Sr. Francis Maura, and Cecilia Vaicels, and his brother Francis Tierney. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Catricala Funeral Home Inc., 1597 Route 9, in Clifton Park, with a funeral Mass Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church in Round Lake. Burial will be in Saratoga National Cemetery.
