Obituary of Joseph A. LaPlante

Joseph A. LaPlante, age 89 of Clifton Park passed away suddenly on Friday, August 19, 2016. Born in Cohoes, he was the son of the late Arthur and Eudora LaPlante. Joseph served with the US Navy Seabees during WWII. He was employed as a motor assembler for General Electric in Schenectady, and retired after 39 years of service. He enjoyed woodworking and boating, and was a former chief and member of the Clifton Park Fire Dept. He is survived by his wife of 69 years; Arleen Laplante, daughters Mary LaPlante, Fran (Earl) Raifstanger, and Erin Hatter, and grandchildren Cori (John) MacCallum, and Timothy Hatter, great-granddaughter Mallory MacCallum, brother Francis (Dorothy) LaPlante, and many nieces and nephews. A memorial gathering will be held on Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., with a service at 12 p.m. at the Catricala Funeral Home Inc., 1597 Route 9, Clifton Park. Burial will follow in the Saratoga National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Clifton Park/Halfmoon Ambulance Corps, P.O. Box 1469, Clifton Park, NY 12065.
