Obituary of Gisela E. Bachinsky

Gisela E. Bachinsky of Mechanicville, age 85 passed away peacefully on Monday May 2, 2016 surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of the late John and Emily Dorr. She is predeceased by her husband, John T. Bachinsky, her son, John P. Bachinsky, and her sister Delores Serwanski. Born in Green Island, she earned her Bachelor’s degree from Empire State College. She worked as an architect for the NYSOGS Albany office for 32 years until she retired in 1988. In 1951, she married the love of her life, John and spent 46 years together until he passed away. She was also the President of the Latham B.P.W. After she retired, she worked as a tour guide for Hart Tours. She had her family visit every Sunday to make dinner for everyone. She always made a different meal each Sunday. She loved entertaining friends and family for any occasion. She also had a passion for writing. She is survived by her son, Andrew (Cathy) Bachinsky, daughter, Paula Bachinsky, grandchildren, Jennifer Bachinsky Habib, Joseph Bachinsky and Alina, Aaron and Andrew Walentowicz. She’s also survived by her sister, Rose Barney, brothers, John and Fritz Dorr and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Catricala Funeral Home Inc. with a funeral service at the funeral home on Friday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Colonie.
