Joy and I send you our love and sympathies on Rich's passing. I couldn't believe it when Joy told me this morning. I feel like we were just together having dinner in Waltham. You were both so nice to me when we first met during my treatments at MGH over a year ago. I'm glad you and Joy stayed in touch. I enjoyed talking to Rich, especially about baseball. Our condolences to your son Branden too. Even though we never met him, we enjoyed hearing about his baseball career. Rich was so proud of him. We're both praying for you and Branden during these difficult times.

Carol and Branden,
I am very sorry to learn of Rich's passing. I know he fought valiantly for 2 years, undoubtedly still with that ever-present smile on his face. I can still picture him smiling during one of Branden's games at CPBL and even during those long Board meetings when he was looking after the league's finances. Rich was such a great guy! I remember working with him over the years, going back his days working for Fred Lindheimer at FDC. Even though Fred was Fred, Rich would pull me aside and give me the lowdown on what to expect and how to get resolved whatever issue Fred and I were butting heads on.
Rich really helped me develop my mediation skills. He always had a smile on his face and a good word to say.
I'm sorry that I can be there in person on Thursday.

Rich was my first supervisor here at DASNY. He was a kind, gentle man who loved his family dearly. I remember him speaking very proudly about his son and how much he loved to watch him play baseball.
