Obituary of Joyce W. Studenka

Joyce Weber Studenka, 83, formerly of Clifton Park, died Friday January 3rd from complications of a heart condition at Hospice by the Sea in Boca Raton, FL. Born in Schenectady; she was the daughter of the late Howard C. Weber and Myra West Weber. Joyce was predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth Dundon and her loving husband, John M. Studenka who passed away in 1997. Joyce grew up in Lansingburgh but lived in the Capital District until relocating to Boca Raton, FL in 2009. Joyce graduated from Lansingburgh High School in 1948. Before retiring from the New York United Teachers Union, Joyce worked at Bendix and the Ford Motor Company in Green Island. Joyce was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Halfmoon where she was active for many years. After retirement Joyce was extremely active in with several organizations including her High School reunion committee and ONSR. In addition to her activities, Joyce was an artist and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Joyce loved all things chocolate and fashion related. She proudly claimed to have never owned a pair of blue jeans. She is survived by her sister, Gwendolyn Haldeman (Gordon) of Addison Vt., a daughter, Carol Schreck Ryan (Mike) of Boca Raton, FL, a son, Eric Schreck (Katy) of Winter Springs, FL, two step sons, John and James Studenka and two step daughters, Sandra Arthur and Terese Dupont, her cherished grandchildren, Nicholas, Kelly, Stephen, Karl and Myles as well as three great grandchildren. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, January 11 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the Catricala Funeral Home Inc., 1597 Route 9, Clifton Park, with a funeral service at 12 noon at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Waterford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice by the Sea, Inc., 1531 West Palmetto Park Rd., Boca Raton, FL 33486.
