Obituary of Wendell Rosen

Wendell J. Rosen, 81, of Malta, NY, passed away at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady on Monday, June 2, 2025 with his family at his side. Wendell was born in Schenectady, NY in 1943, the son of the late Harold and Avis (Shultes) Rosen. He was also predeceased by a daughter: Nancy Yager; and a granddaughter: Kayla Scolamiero. Following his graduation from Shenendehowa High School, Wendell worked as a mechanic and owner of Rosen's Garage, where he served his customers for over 40 years. He married Carol Lamalfa on January 5, 1973, and they enjoyed 52 years together. Following his retirement, he worked as a maintenance supervisor for Coburg Village. When Wendell wasn't taking care of his garage, he still enjoyed cars. He loved all cars, but especially antique cars. He was an avid NY Giants and NY Yankees fan, and although his hunting slowed down over the years, he still enjoyed his gun collection. He loved trips to Disney World, Lake Placid, and Stowe, VT with his family, and his children have many good memories of skiing trips around the northeast. He also enjoyed fishing, golfing, and had a talent for pottery. The family was also lucky to have had several trips to Disneyworld where his children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter got to spend time with him. He also loved Cirque du Soleil at Disney. His favorite hobby was spending time with his loved ones. Wendell was a dedicated and loving family man, and never missed an opportunity to go watch his children's and grandchildren's hockey and baseball games. Wendell is survived by his wife, Carol Rosen; his children: Susan (John) Ryan, Peter (Valerie) Scolamiero, and Michael Rosen; his grandchildren: Vesryn Grey, Benjamin (Charli) Ryan, Christian (Malu) Scolamiero, Nicholas (Eleonora Setz) Scolamiero, and Olivia Scolamiero; and a great-granddaughter: Sophia Harvey. A period of visitation will be held from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at Catricala Funeral home, 1597 Route 9 Clifton Park, NY 12065, with a memorial service taking place at 3:30 pm.
